Co-op Wholesale has appointed Martin Swadling as its new customer director.
Swadling brings 30 years of retail and wholesale experience. He most recently served at Booker as customer director before leaving in February.
He worked for the wholesale giant for eight years, taking on various other senior roles including retail support director and leading the Premier and Londis symbol brands to drive growth and recruitment.
His career also includes leadership roles at Musgrave and Grand Metropolitan Foods.
Under the newly created role as customer director at Co-op Wholesale, Swadling will lead the strategy and execution of Co-op Wholesale’s logistics and warehouse operations.
Co-op Wholesale said his appointment was designed to help build a high-performing delivery proposition that met retailers’ evolving needs while driving operational efficiency and service across the business.
“Martin brings extensive industry knowledge and a proven track record in building strong customer propositions and leading complex operations,” said Co-op Wholesale MD Katie Secretan.
“His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our supply chain, enhance service for partners, and deliver on our growth ambitions.”
Swadling added: “The transformative journey Co-op Wholesale has been on in recent times has been clear for all to see across the industry. I’m really excited to join the team at such a pivotal time, helping to build on its operational strengths and develop a delivery network that’s truly fit for the future.”
