The meals combined ‘years of beans expertise with consumer cravings’, said Heinz

Heinz has secured Sainsbury’s listings for its Beanz ready meals.

The trio of pouch meals (rsp: £2.50/250g) inspired by world cuisines – Chilli Black Beanz, Curry Chickpeaz and Tomato Cannellini Beanz – has rolled into the supermarket following a trial in Ocado.

The meals are low in sugar and provide at least one of the recommended 5 a day.

They made it “easier than ever for beans fans to enjoy quick lunches or speedy dinners at home”, said Heinz.

“Combining our years of beans expertise with consumer cravings for adventurous recipes and world foods, our new range takes everything people love about beans: the taste, the convenience, the comfort, and serves them up in new, delicious ways to enjoy at mealtimes,” said Heinz meals director Alessandra de Dreuille.

“Ready in minutes, our three new dishes make it easier than ever for Brits to enjoy and add even more beans and pulses as part of their daily meals,” she added.

It comes as Heinz has spent recent months bolstering its portfolio of children’s food products. The fmcg giant added Little Beanz in May and a Mr Men pasta sauce in July – both containing “hidden” veg.

Heinz also unveiled Tomato Ketchup Zero, a no-added-sugar-or-salt spin-off of its best-selling table sauce with 35% more tomatoes, in June.

Earlier this month, Kraft Heinz announced it was to be broken into two separate independent companies following a unanimous vote by its board.
