Higgidy has teamed up with Thatchers Cider on a co-branded chicken pie, while introducing regeneratively grown flour across its entire pie portfolio.
The Higgidy Creamy Chicken, Mushroom & Thatchers Cider Pie is made from free-range British chicken, white and chestnut mushrooms, and Thatchers Gold cider in a creamy sauce made from whipping cream, blended beans and butternut squash purée. The filling is baked in an all-butter shortcrust pastry, topped with a garlic and thyme crumb.
Thatchers Gold, made from a blend of bittersweet apples from the south west, added a “gentle sweetness” that paired well with the creamy chicken filling, said Higgidy.
“Thatchers Cider is the UK’s number one cider brand and its flavours perfectly complement our chicken pie,” said Pamela Bower-Nye, senior brand lead at Higgidy.
“We can’t wait to share our passion for pies with Thatchers Gold Cider fans up and down the country and hope they will enjoy the delicious result of our two brands coming together.”
The NPD will be available in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado from 9 September (rsp: £3.75/200g), and will be supported by a ‘Dig into a Higgidy’ OOH campaign across the country.

The rich flavour from our famous Gold cider has become a perfect partner in this tasty chicken-based pie.”
The latest alcohol brand collaboration builds on Higgidy’s tie-up with Guinness last September, when it launched the Higgidy Slow Cooked Steak & Guinness Pie.
Alongside the launch, Higgidy has partnered with Wildfarmed to introduce regeneratively grown flour across its full pie portfolio as part of an update to its recipes based on consumer taste research. The new recipes will launch in supermarkets from 9 September.
Higgidy has also added a Barber’s Vintage Cheddar, Potato & Leek Pie, launching in Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Ocado from 9 September (rsp: £3.75/200g).
