Neville Irani will sit as part of the wholesaler’s executive team

Booker has appointed Neville Irani as managing director for foodservice, and small and medium-sized enterprise.

He will sit as part of the wholesaler’s executive team, reporting to Booker Group CEO Andrew Yaxley, and will be responsible for leading and growing the business’ foodservice and catering arm in the UK.

Irani will join Booker later in the spring, moving across from his most recent role as director of independent foodservice at Brakes

“I’m delighted that Nev will be joining the Booker team, bringing with him extensive leadership experience across multiple sectors, including foodservice, retail and customer service,” said Yaxley.

“We are well positioned to support our customers across the hospitality space, and under Nev’s guidance we’ll continue to deliver for our customers, exploring new opportunities and working closely with them to ensure they can get everything they need from us a wholesaler.”

His appointment comes after the Tesco-owned wholesaler updated on its Q3 and Christmas trading last month, having suffered a decline in sales. However, Tesco CEO Ken Murphy said Booker would do “everything in its power to be very competitive and minimise cost to retailers”.

“Clearly the market outlook is challenging, but I am quite confident that Booker will perform strongly within the market. You can count on Booker to be very competitive in 2026,” he added.
