Ferrero UK has recalled selected batches of its frozen Nutella Croissant bakery products over fears they may contain pieces of metal.
The affected products contain four frozen croissants and carry the batch code L126Z39. They have a best before date of either 6 or 7 May 2027.
The croissants “may contain pieces of metal which makes the product unsafe to eat”, the Food Standards Authority (FSA) said.
Consumers that had purchased the product should not eat it and instead dispose of it or return it to where they bought it from for a full refund, it added.
“At Ferrero, food quality and safety are of the utmost importance to us, and we operate stringent quality control procedures throughout all our manufacturing processes,” a spokesperson for Ferrero UK said. “We are recalling selected batches of frozen Nutella Croissant bakery products in the UK due to the risk that some products may contain metal.
“The affected products are limited to specific batches in two retailers. No other Ferrero products are affected, and consumers can continue to enjoy their products as usual.”
“Food safety authorities have been informed in the UK, and Ferrero is co-ordinating with the customers impacted to ensure the effective recall of the impacted products from the market.
“Consumers who may have purchased the affected products are asked not to consume them and return the products to the point of purchase.”
