Welsh food wholesaler Harlech Foodservice has seen festive pre-orders increase by 1,100% as it predicts its “busiest Christmas yet”.

Ahead of the festive season, Harlech has launched a Christmas brochure featuring 420 products, including 78 new lines designed for menus in restaurants, pubs, schools and hospitals across Wales, the north of England, Shropshire and the Midlands.

The range was first showcased at Harlech’s Christmas Roadshow, where suppliers and Harlech staff took part in speed dating-style sessions to taste test products and discuss festive orders.

“The Christmas Roadshow is all about our suppliers educating and energising our sales team so they can go out there and confidently inform and sell to our customers from our Christmas brochure,” said Harlech Foodservice commercial manager Chris Gregson.

“We launched the brochure two weeks ago and our pre-orders have gone through the roof. As a family-run company based in Wales, we are delighted to continue to support Welsh produce.”

Harlech Foodservice MD Mark Lawton added that the Christmas Roadshow and the brochure is ultimately about “helping our customers have a successful Christmas”.

“Christmas is huge for the food and drink sector and a key trading time for us when you think about the breadth of Christmas parties, events and celebrations that take place.”

The surge in festive pre-orders comes as the Gwynedd-based food company unveiled plans to expand its headquarters and create 50 new jobs in July, as it remains on track to achieve record sales of £75m.

In the year to July, Harlech increased turnover by 25% after opening depots in Caerphilly and Telford to support growing demand in south Wales, the north west and West Midlands.
