Hilton Food Group’s UK & Ireland CEO Matt Lee has been snapped up by rival meat processor Pilgrim’s Europe.

Lee will take up the newly expanded commercial role of chief business and growth officer at Pilgrim’s from July, leading on areas including commercial strategy, retail, brands, insights and innovation across the UK and Ireland.

The industry veteran was at Hilton for just under six years, having joined in May 2020. Prior to that, he worked at ABF – British Sugar & Allied Bakeries, Premier Foods, Campbell’s, Arla Foods and Coca-Cola.

Lee is also an active IGD trustee, reinforcing his commitment to advancing industry standards and supporting commercial excellence across the sector.

Pilgrim’s said the move was a important step in its evolution, strengthening its commercial capabilities and accelerating growth ambitions across key strategic areas.

“I’m delighted to be joining Pilgrim’s at such a pivotal moment,” Lee said. “Following its successful integration, it is a business with strong momentum, a clear vision, and an outstanding team.

He added: “I look forward to partnering with colleagues across the organisation to build on this foundation – driving innovation, delivering value for customers, and unlocking new opportunities for long-term growth.”

Pilgrim’s Europe president Ivan Siqueira said Lee’s background made him an “exceptional addition”.

“His experience across retail, brands, and commercial strategy will be instrumental as we continue to evolve, innovate, and deliver for our customers,” he added. “I very much look forward to working with him.”
