Dundee-based food wholesale business John D Forrest has joined foodservice buying group Sterling Supergroup as its newest member.
John D Forrest was founded in 1906 and acquired 55 years ago by Gordon Hume, who has developed the business alongside his wife Alison Hume and son Steven Hume.
Egg sales have always been at the core of the business, but it also offers a range of frozen, chilled and ambient products.
“We are very much looking forward to working closely with Sterling Supergroup and its members as we continue to grow and develop the next chapter of our business,” said Steven Hume.
Sterling Supergroup chief commercial officer Daniel Larkin added: “It is great to welcome John D Forrest Ltd as a new member in our 60th anniversary year.
“Steven and his team share the values that make Sterling what it is, and we are looking forward to working closely with them and providing them with the tools to help them grow their business.”
It follows the departure of John Whitechurch, of J&R Foodservice, as Sterling Supergroup chairman in October, after eight years of service to the buying group.
Nigel Chadd, who sold his business, Chadd’s Foodsmiths, to J&R Foodservice last year, stepped into the role.
