Lidl GB is investing £250m in lowering prices via price cuts and Lidl Plus promotions.
Since the start of the year, the discounter has reduced prices on more than 1,000 products across fresh meat, fruit and veg, eggs, milk, bread and yoghurt.
Recent discounts include Mature Cheddar for £2.49 down from £2.79, Cherries (200g) lowered to £1.39 from £2.29 and Four Beef Quarter Pounders down to £2.89 from £3.49.
Lidl has also increased investment into the Lidl Plus app this year with the launch of Lidl Points last month – a rewards system that allows customers to spend reward points in the in-app marketplace, swapped for over 200 products, or exchanged for money-off coupons.
The discount grocer added that it now offers more tailored deals in the Lidl Plus app, including a 60% increased spend in personalised coupons.
“We know customers continue to face pressure on their household budgets, especially heading into the summer months,” said Lidl GB chief commercial officer Richard Bourns. “Our £250m investment in lowering prices on over 1,000 products ensures customers get even better value.
“This latest investment, combined with a significant increase in promotions via the Lidl Plus app, reinforces our unwavering commitment to deliver the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices.”
It comes after Aldi cut prices of over 200 products last month in a new £60m round of reductions.
The rival discounter’s savings include a 50p drop in the price of British beef steaks such as its 30 Day Matured British Rump Steak, now £4.69.
