Women in Wholesale chair and Immediate Impact MD Clare Bocking has launched the Conscious Culture Initiative – a seven-step programme designed to help wholesalers and suppliers align company culture with commercial goals.
The initiative looks to address ‘legacy culture’, “which may no longer serve today’s strategies, markets and workforces”, said Bocking.
“The Conscious Culture Initiative provides a structured yet flexible framework to refresh and evolve culture, so it accelerates – rather than hinders – performance.”
According to WiW, research shows that a strong, intentional culture is proven to improve recruitment and retention; boost engagement, creativity and productivity; and enhance customer experience.
The launch also follows research commissioned by the educational networking programme last year, which revealed that 67% of women in wholesale cited a male-dominated culture as their biggest workplace challenge.
“Culture can make or break business performance,” Bocking added. “High trust cultures deliver 2.5x revenue growth and 2x profit growth. It’s not a side project – it’s a strategic advantage.”
Last month, WiW relaunched its Coaching Academy for 2025 with a new group format. This year 34 participants will take part, an increase of over 40% compared with up to 24 participants in previous years.
More than half of the new cohort are from wholesale businesses including Booker, Sysco, Reynolds, Savona, LWC Drinks, Pricecheck, Bidfood, Suma Wholesale, Creed Foodservice, Unitas and Country Range.
