Badwater Tequila Pineapple Crush

Badwater Tequila Pineapple Crush offered a ‘bold, fruity and refreshing serve’

Ready-to-drink cocktail brand Badwater Tequila has landed its first supermarket listing with Sainsbury’s.

Cans in Pineapple Crush will roll out across 300 large-format stores from 22 March (rsp: £2.75/330ml).

Made with blanco tequila, real fruit juice and natural flavours, the 4.5% abv Pineapple Crush offered “a bold, fruity and refreshing serve,” with just 163 calories per can, Badwater Tequila said.

The listing would help support Badwater’s ambition to become “the UK’s leading ready-to-drink tequila brand”, it added.

Further new flavour NPD for Badwater is scheduled to launch across grocery and other channels this summer.

“Tequila-based RTDs are experiencing strong global demand and are driving growth within the wider RTD category,” said Badwater Tequila founder and CEO Dan Spurr. “Now is the right time for the brand to enter grocery at scale, and this listing is testament to the brand’s early success.

“Grocery forms a key part of our wider strategic expansion plans and is central to unlocking further scale and mainstream awareness for our core range: Pineapple Crush, Lime Margarita and Grapefruit Paloma.”

Cora Delaney, Badwater co-founder and creative director, added: “Pineapple Crush is everything younger consumers connect with – bold, fruity flavour, clean ingredients and something that feels like them, with a true sense of fun that feels genuinely current.”

Originally launched in May 2023 as a producer of tequila-based sodas, Badwater was reimagined as an RTD cocktail brand a year later.

Its products are exclusively distributed in the UK by Proof Drinks.
