EG on the move

EG On The Move has acquired independent petrol forecourt operator MPK Garages in a move that will “significantly strengthen” its national footprint, particularly in the Midlands.

The transaction, which is expected to complete today (1 May), includes MPK’s portfolio of 27 petrol forecourt sites, the majority of which are freehold and operate under Valero, Texaco and Gulf fuel brands, with Nisa-branded retail stores.

EG On The Move said the purchase of the MPK network would create a “strong platform for investment and enhancement of the existing non-fuel customer offer”. The forecourt operator plans to roll out an enhanced foodservice proposition alongside a broader, more comprehensive grocery and merchandise range.

The acquisition will also create an opportunity for EG On The Move to expand fast EV charging and provide local businesses with “competitive fuel card options” for their fleets through EV On the Move and EG On The Move Fuel Card, the business said.

“The MPK acquisition marks another important step in our UK growth strategy,” said EG On The Move CEO Zuber Issa. “MPK is a highly respected petrol forecourt operator with a strong regional presence in the Midlands.”

MPK CEO Wayne Harrand added: “Since 2018, MPK have invested in its people and its portfolio. It is fitting that our new owner has the same philosophy and is well-positioned to enhance the customer offer on the MPK sites acquired and be able to deliver long-term customer value and financial performance across the combined network.”

It comes after EG On The Move agreed to acquire around 260 sites in France from EG Group in February, as the forecourt operator took its first major step in its international growth strategy.

The Blackburn-based business said the deal with EG Group for the French network was expected to complete in the second quarter of 2026 and would allow it to deepen investment across fuel, foodservice, grocery and merchandise channels.
