Meal subscription brand Field Doctor has launched a range of smaller ready meals designed specifically for people using GLP-1 agonists for weight loss.
Billed as a “first of its kind in the UK”, the range is aimed at supporting people on weight loss drugs, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, as their dietary needs change to match their appetite change.
Including dishes such as Chicken, Pea & Asparagus Risotto, Italian Meatballs and Red Pesto & Roasted Vegetable Penne, the range is high in protein, while providing a source of fibre.
The meals, which are delivered frozen, were designed by dieticians Laura Tilt and Abby Hookey to “cater to the needs, symptoms and side effects of those using weight loss treatments and programmes”, said Field Doctor.
“We know that eating well becomes even more important with a reduced appetite,” said Tilt.
“Our weight management companion meals can help you meet your nutritional needs, with portion sizes that can be adjusted as your appetite changes with your treatment,” she added.
It comes as US food manufacturers have spent recent months innovating and marketing their products to cater to users of GLP-1 agonists.
For instance, Conagra added a ’GLP-1 friendly’ claim to packs of its Healthy Choice frozen meals in December.
In the same month, Nestlé launched Boost Pre-Meal, a protein shot designed to “help reduce the loss of muscle tissue” for weight-loss drug users.
