Iceland Foods has launched a new rapid online delivery service, offering customers delivery ”within an hour”.

Available to shoppers from this week, the service will initially roll out in 17 London stores, with a full London launch to follow on 19 October.

Further expansion is expected from 26 October into cities including Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool. The frozen food retailer aims to include over 200 stores before Christmas.

Customers can place an order online or through the Iceland app and to mark the launch, the supermarket is offering free delivery for all orders.

“We understand that food plans can change at the drop of a hat,” an Iceland spokesperson said. “Whether it’s forgotten essentials for dinner, snacks for the kids packed lunches, or a craving you have to satisfy, shoppers can order with confidence knowing they can get what they need delivered at speed.

“That’s why we’ve launched our rapid online delivery service, offering customers delivery within an hour.”

The service is available alongside Iceland’s next-day delivery service, which runs nationwide and is free when shoppers spend £40 online.

This is not the first time the grocer has ramped up its delivery offerings this year. In February, Iceland expanded its partnership with Amazon, allowing customers in Northern Ireland to order the supermarket’s groceries via Amazon for the first time.

Alongside the launch in Belfast, the service was expanded to Cardiff, Edinburgh and Nottingham, meaning the partnership became “nationwide”.
