Waitrose and Union Coffee are to expand their long-standing partnership, with the speciality roaster’s coffees now being served across every Waitrose café using an exclusive ’Partners Blend’.
The 100% arabica specialty coffee is sourced through Union Direct Trade from Peru, Brazil and Nicaragua, and roasted in small batches.
Waitrose employees will receive barista training led by Union to ensure they are “equipped to consistently serve excellent coffee to the highest standard for customers across the country”, according to the supermarket.
A selection of the grocer’s more than 100 cafés will undergo a co-branded refresh, with updated imagery and design.
The Partners Blend will be available in Waitrose cafés from Wednesday 14 October and will also be available to purchase for at-home use in the coming months.
“As the home of food lovers, we’re always looking for ways to serve our customers better,” said Waitrose chief commercial officer Charlotte Di Cello. “Union Speciality Coffee Roasters are brilliant at what they do, sharing our passion for exceptional quality and responsible sourcing.
“It’s a natural partnership that brings their coffee expertise into our shops and adds something special for our customers.”
Union Coffee commercial director Ben Styche said: “Waitrose and Union have worked together for more than a decade to bring sustainably sourced specialty coffee to customers at home.
“Together, our ambition is to bring an authentic specialty coffee experience into Waitrose cafés, combining exceptional coffee with the craft, care and expertise customers would expect from a great high-street coffee shop.”
