Bearfields will launch its Carved Roast Turkey across 672 Tesco stores from 13 April.
The O’Brien Fine Foods-owned brand said the product (rsp: £3.50/90g) was the latest extension to its Bearfields Family Delicatessen range of premium, nitrite-free, carved deli hams.
It is carved from whole turkey breast and ”complemented by a Sunday roast-inspired seasoning, which brings an indulgent roasted taste to the cooked meats fixture”.
It will be produced in the brand’s new manufacturing facility in Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire.
The decision to launch a turkey SKU responds to growing consumer demand for leaner, “better for you protein options”, the brand said, with turkey continuing to grow in relevance “as a versatile, tasty and natural source of protein”.
“We’re always looking to bring better food to our customers, which is why we have answered the consumer demand for lean protein sources that don’t compromise on quality or flavour,” said O’Brien Foods MD John O’Brien. “The most important thing for us is to continue producing ‘better’ products for our customers, and this latest launch is set to deliver just that.”
Alongside the launch, the Bearfields Carved Delicatessen Ham range will also have expanded distribution to 672 Tesco stores.
“After the successful launch of our delicatessen ham range, which is made without nitrites and artificial preservatives, we’re excited to be adding turkey to our brand,” said O’Brien Foods marketing & innovation director Mairead Golden. “There’s a growing shopper desire for lean sliced cooked meats which are minimally processed, high in protein and taste delicious.”
Mairead added: “Our latest launch allows us to meet the needs of shoppers who are seeking better alternatives.”
