Chilled food manufacturer Oscar Mayer has partnered with pan-Asian food brand Blue Dragon to launch a six-SKU range of chilled meal bowls.
The range (rsp: £4.25/400g) includes Korean BBQ Chicken, Japanese Vegetable Yakisoba, Thai Green Chicken Curry, Thai Sweet Chilli Chicken, Japanese Teriyaki Chicken and Chinese Soy & Garlic Chicken.
The Korean BBQ Chicken has been described as “rich and smoky with a bold BBQ glaze”; the Japanese Vegetable Yakisoba features savoury noodles with crispy vegetables; and the Thai Green Chicken Curry combines a coconut curry with aromatic herbs.
The Thai Sweet Chilli Chicken has a “perfectly balanced sweet heat”; the Japanese Teriyaki Chicken has a ”classic sweet and savoury glaze”; and the Chinese Soy & Garlic Chicken is “punchy and umami-rich”.
The SKUs have been inspired by authentic recipes and developed to deliver restaurant-quality taste at home. The launch also marks Blue Dragon’s debut in the chilled category.
The range is available in Asda stores nationwide now.
Paul Watmore, marketing director at Blue Dragon-owner AB World Foods, said it was an exciting step for the business.
“By combining our expertise in pan-Asian ingredients and recipes with Oscar Mayer’s manufacturing capability, we’re making it even easier for consumers to enjoy high-quality, flavour-led dishes with convenience,” he continued.
The development of the range included extensive research and consumer testing at Oscar Mayer’s Gastro Hub facility in Wrexham, Wales.
“This is a great new launch in a fast-growing category, as shoppers increasingly look for convenient, restaurant-quality meals at home,” said Oscar Mayer CEO Ian Toal. “Blue Dragon is a highly respected and innovative consumer brand, and great care and attention to detail has gone into creating these six dishes, which we’re confident will delight shoppers.”
The partnership was facilitated by Food Brands Now, the food licensing agency launched by former Iceland Foods licensing and innovation head Oliver Gilding in 2025, and forms part of the continued expansion of its licensed food portfolio.
“Blue Dragon is a brand with strong consumer recognition and credibility in pan-Asian cuisine, and when combined with Oscar Mayer’s manufacturing expertise, it creates a powerful proposition for retailers,” Gilding added. “Our success continues to be built on identifying the right brand opportunities, aligning them with best-in-class suppliers, and delivering products that meet evolving consumer demand.”
Alongside the launch of the chilled meal bowls range, 10 Blue Dragon-branded fresh stir fry vegetable and meat SKUs launched into Morrisons this month, replacing the retailer’s own-brand options.
The range includes vegetable stir fry lines (rsp: £1.85/320g) including Mixed Pepper, Oriental Style, Mushroom and Edamame & Broccoli. It also includes Family Stir Fry Veg (rsp: £2.15/570g), Tenderstem Broccoli Stir Fry Veg (rsp: £2.85/220g) and Vegetable Stir Fry Veg (rsp: £2.85/220g).
Beyond vegetables, the brand has launched Wok Ready Egg Noodles (rsp: £1.35/300g) and British Diced Chicken Breast for Stir Fry (rsp: £3.55/350g).
