JJ Foodservice has launched on TikTok Shop, offering a range of products to be delivered directly to UK households.
Described by the business as “the first shop of its kind in UK foodservice wholesale”, JJ has launched with a small range of products available to customers in areas within its UK delivery network.
The current product selection on TikTok Shop includes bundles such as a Gourmet Surf & Turf Box, featuring tomahawk steak, scallops and king prawns for £79, and a Seafood Deluxe Box with restaurant-quality salmon, scallops and prawns for £65.
An Ultimate Loaded Fries Box with fries and a range of toppings is also available for £21.75, alongside a Big Family Fakeaway Night Box with 2kg of chicken strips, 1kg of chicken doner kebab, and 2.27kg of chips for £38.
The launch comes as 56% of UK social media users have made a purchase directly through social platforms, with 44% having made a purchase directly on TikTok, according to data from TikTok and Retail Economics.
“We’ve launched a small-scale TikTok Shop pilot as part of our ongoing exploration of new digital sales channels and the growth of JJ Home,” JJ Foodservice chief sales officer Baris Kacar told The Grocer. “We’re using the pilot to assess customer demand and operational performance before making any decisions on future development.”
JJ first launched a permanent direct-to-consumer operation, ‘JJ Home’, in 2020, following a ’stop-gap’ DTC service during the Covid-19 lockdown. In 2023, it rebranded to ‘JJ Home Essentials’ and widened its product range.
The growth of its digital sales channels also comes as the foodservice wholesaler continues to expand its physical operations, with plans for two new branches this year.
In March, the business announced it had acquired a new 28,000 sq ft site in Ipswich, which is due to open later this year. It also confirmed that its 33,000 sq ft Nottingham branch remained on track to open this summer.
The openings form part of the group’s national expansion drive, after it set out a five-year strategy in October to launch eight new branches and its first overseas facility in the Netherlands.
