A global programme designed to drive regenerative farming at scale has cleared its pilot phase.
Swiss non-profit food & drink industry membership network SAI Platform said the development paved the way for its Regenerating Together Programme to roll out in full by the end of 2026.
More than 35 pilot initiatives across 23 production systems “validated” the organisation’s four-step framework, designed to help companies transition food supply chains to regenerative agriculture.
SAI Platform said the results provided one of the “clearest real-world tests to date that a common, scalable approach to regenerative agriculture can work across global supply chains”.
“We’ve now seen the programme tested across a wide range of production systems, geographies and value chains, with input from farmers and major food businesses working in very different conditions,” said SAI Platform director general Dionys Forster.
“This work gives the industry a tested, scalable foundation – the moment to act is now,” he added.
Nestlé and Wildfarmed were among the companies involved in the pilot and are among SAI Platform’s 190-plus members.
Nestlé implemented the programme across 25 farms producing oats in Canada, while Wildfarmed tested the framework across wheat, oats and barley on 150 farms in the UK.
“We were drawn to the Regenerating Together Programme because it aligns with our core mission: delivering measurable outcomes for soil, water, and biodiversity while remaining farmer-centric,” said Wildfarmed chief people and sustainability officer Rob Bray.
He added: “In testing the framework, we’ve seen its power to provide a clear, actionable roadmap that cuts through the noise of what ‘regenerative’ means, providing a critical opportunity to scale nature-friendly food systems.”
SAI Platform will host the public launch of the next phase of the Regenerating Together Programme in June 2026 at its upcoming Annual Event in Saskatoon, Canada.
The launch would showcase new resources, provide opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement, and invite broader participation from the food and beverage industry to accelerate regenerative agriculture adoption worldwide, SAI said.
