The Estate Dairy has launched unhomogenised milk in glass bottles into Tesco.
The Estate Dairy Unhomogenised Organic Whole Milk (rsp: £3/one litre) is “gently pasteurised and never homogenised”.
The brand said the line had a “unique golden colour and a beautiful rich flavour”.
“I grew up watching my father farm dairy and the farms we work with are still small and independently owned by the farmers themselves,” said Rebecca Young, co-founder. “We know them by name, and Tesco coming on board like this means the work they do – and the benefits of proper milk, can reach many more kitchen tables across the country.”
It is the first line of milk in Tesco in a glass bottle.
“The easy thing would have been to change the bottle for the supermarket,” said Oliver Scott-Harden, commercial director at The Estate Dairy. “We didn’t, because the glass is part of how the milk works: you can see the cream, and it’s the same bottle that The Estate Dairy customers know and love.”
Unhomogenised milk is a growing trend and the announcement comes following news that Waitrose expanded unhomogenised milk processing capacity at its Leckford Estate.
