Wessex Mill has a milling heritage spanning more than 125 years

Flour brand Wessex Mill has secured its first grocery listing, debuting nine lines via Ocado.

The lineup comprises Six Seed Bread Flour (rsp: £3.20), Cobber Bread Flour (rsp: £3.20), Strong White Bread Flour (£2.30), Mixed Grain Bread Flour (rsp: £3.20), French Bread Flour (rsp: £3.20), Wholemeal Bread Flour (rsp: £2.30), Pasta & Pizza Flour (rsp: £3.70), Plain White Flour (rsp: £2.20) and Self Raising Flour (rsp: £2.20). The flours all come in 1.5kg packs.

The Ocado listing would give shoppers a “broad choice of specialist and everyday flours, catering to a variety of home baking needs”, said Wessex Mills. Previously, the brand was stocked solely by independent retailers and farm shops.

Owned by husband-and-wife team Michael and Clare Marriage, who also founded Doves Farm Foods, Wessex Mill has a milling heritage spanning more than 125 years.

Its flours are milled in the North Wessex Downs near Hungerford, Berkshire, where the business works with local farmers to source wheat from within 50 miles of the mill.

Details of the farm where the wheat was grown are printed on packs, giving shoppers “greater visibility of the farms behind their flour”, according to the brand.

“We’re delighted to be bringing Wessex Mill to Ocado, making our flours more accessible to home bakers across the country,” said Clare Marriage. “We’ve always believed that great baking starts with great flour, and knowing where your ingredients come from is an important part of that.”

To support the Ocado listing, the flours will be on promotion at 20% off per pack from 4 November to 1 December.
