Pizzanaise has landed in Sainsbury’s and Ocado

Pizza Express has launched its signature restaurant dip in grocery as shoppers look to recreate restaurant-quality experiences at home.

The Pizzanaise sauce has landed in Sainsbury’s and Ocado (rsp: £2.25/250g), offering “creamy, herby” flavours from classic pizza ingredients such as tomato, oregano and garlic. The sauce is designed for “dipping, dunking or drizzling” over pizza.

“We know our fans are looking to bring more of the Pizza Express restaurant experience into their homes,” Richard Mills, retail director at Pizza Express, told The Grocer.

”Following its debut in our restaurants late last year, Pizzanaise reflects our ability to translate much-loved menu favourites into supermarket products.”

Pizza Express is also tapping into the “swicy” trend with a new hot honey sauce that will be available in Sainsbury’s and Ocado on 3 May, ahead of its launch in Asda on 18 May (rsp: £2.25/286g). The Hot Honey Drizzle sauce blends honey with jalapeños and bird’s eye chillies.

On TikTok, videos tagged #hothoney have amassed more than 100 million views in the past year. The viral trend has been driving recent fmcg innovations. Jaffa Cakes Hot Honey hit shelves in June last year, followed by Hot Honey Crunchy Nut, which launched in January.

The Pizzanaise and Hot Honey Drizzle launches are the latest NPD from Pizza Express, after it targeted home cooks with a duo of Italian tomato pizza sauces in Morrisons last year.
